MISSION We exist to provide opportunities that empower adults with disabilities to reach their highest level of success. We will accomplish this while maintaining a reputation for ethical practice and performance excellence among employees, customers, and the community.
VISION Current Industries is people of different abilities working together to accomplish what was once beyond their reach.
Current Industries, Inc., founded in 1968, is a non-profit organization of approximately 50 employees located in Bellingham, Washington. We provide work opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities by building advanced wire harness assemblies for a wide range of industries including: power supplies, telecommunication systems, marine controls, and food equipment. Current Industries has a symbiotic relationship between two worlds - social work and business for profit. The real, productive nature of business provides meaningful opportunities for adults with disabilities; and the spirit of giving provides intrinsic rewards beyond profit.
Current Industries maintains that the capacity of persons with disabilities to participate within the community is greatly enhanced by the work they perform, the skills they gain, and the wages they earn.
We have continually demonstrated an ability to produce the highest quality products while meeting the challenge of providing vocational services to individuals with differing abilities. Unlike most non-profit organizations similar to Current Industries who rely heavily on government contracts to subsidize their revenue, Current Industries has a solid history of manufacturing quality products which enables us to continually reduce government funding. Presently less than 4 percent of our revenue comes from government reimbursement.
Our customers provide opportunities that allow persons with disabilities to acquire and maintain satisfying jobs. Without them there could be no mission.
